Ancient Land

Given man's influence on Lawrence Field over the years, with forest clearance, farming, field sports and tourism, the fact that this ancient and giant Birch tree remains standing is one of nature's puzzles.

One of those mornings when the light falls softly on the land. There was a strong breeze which helped to catch some movement in the clawing branches and that sunlight just caught the rounded shapes of the moorland.
